Pruning the branches to bear fruits in love

John 15:2
Every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit.
Our goal is to abide in Christ and to bear fruit. Jesus Christ promised that if we abide in Him, we will bear much fruit (John 15:5).
In subsequent verses, we are going to see that we are pruned rather to show love inorder to bear much fruits in our abiding in the Vine (Jesus Christ).

John 15:2-6 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

We see that there must first be an attachment to This Vine (Jesus Christ) for there to be a flow of nourishment (Word), the purging and the pruning of the Word to bring about a the bearing of the fruits as John 15:5b tells us that without Him we can do nothing.

The Word of God gives us a bearing in him, it is the Word that makes us clean and ready for ‘good works’ which serve as the fruits to be born.

John 15:7-9 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

We have a beautiful reward for abiding in the Vine Jesus Christ, just as we have read, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Behold a golden opportunity to ask what we will and it shall be done, only to abide in Him and His Words abide in us (continuously leaving by His commandments everyday), we acquire an indelible mark of our discipleship when we bear much fruits and God is glorified in our works

Jesus Christ ushers us into Love, telling us that “as the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.”

John 15:8, 10-12 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

The good works (much fruits) which we have being mandated to bear, all comes through Love just as the Scriptures has told us in John 15:12-13 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus Christ has shown us an example of good works and we ought to follow suit, showing us the linkage of us keeping His commandments to abiding in His Love as we bear much fruits to be His disciples, and he gives to us whatever we ask from Him so that His Joy remain in us and we have it in full.
